In God We Still Trust

Another Independence Day has come and gone.  The fireworks lit up the skies, the barbeques produced family and friends with good food, and we celebrated America.  Why?  Do we celebrate because of our superiority?... our technological eminence?... our perceived military and economic strength?  No, the celebration is built on a far superior foundation to all of that… it’s built on the fact that this nation is built (maybe “was” built) on the solidity of a recognition that God in Heaven reigns supreme.

The country singers Diamond Rio sang a song last year at one of their concerts that illustrates this fundamental recognition and therefore was NOT played on major radio stations… nor released as a single to the public.  Fortunately, now the song is out there for all the public to identify with… see what you think…

You place your hand on His bible, when you swear to tell the truth.
His name is on our greatest monuments an' all our money too.
An' when we pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand:
There's no separation, we're one nation under Him.

In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the going gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.

Now there are those among us,
Who wanna push Him out.
And erase his name from everything,
This country's all about.
From the schoolhouse to the courthouse,
They're silencing His word,
An' now it's time for all believers,
To make our voices heard.

In God, we still trust here in America,
He's the one we turn to every time the goin' gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.

Precious friends, we are independent because of God, not independent from Him.  The superiority is His… the eminence is His… and the strength is His.  Our ability to remember that will be the determining factor in the greatness of this nation.  Remember.  Share.  Praise.
