What to Expect When Your Life Falls Apart

When your life falls apart, and runs through your fingers like sand, when every effort to hold it together seems futile, don’t be afraid. That’s not really your life…. it’s exactly what it feels like… sand….

Throughout the Bible, the Lord promises that when we truly seek him, he will be there to help us. Deuteronomy 4:29  Proverbs 8:17  Jeremiah 29:13  Matthew 7:7  Luke 11:9 Acts 17:27

If we take the Word of God seriously, if we seek Him with all our heart, soul, body and mind, if we make every effort to obey His Word, if we examine ourselves, our actions, our thoughts, and words, if we strive to eliminate those things in our lives that are contrary to His will, we can fully expect Him to make good on His promise. There is nothing more comforting than knowing that you can call on God and He will answer. David did in Psalm 86:2 “Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.” (Italics added) …But, we must get the “devoted servant who trusts” thing right before we can expect God’s help. When we’ve got that covered, we can have the same confidence as David does in Psalm 86:7 “In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.”

Of course, when it comes to fixing a broken life, God has many more options available than we do. We might see two or three possible solutions, we might pray that one of those solutions be granted us, but God’s menu of solutions is mind boggling. Where we’d choose solution 1, 2 or 3….He may like solution 1,057,271.  We never really know what to expect from life, but we do know what we can expect from God.
