Eager Expectation

You were probably doing something similar to me… I was minding my own business in my living room, watching a movie with a close friend and my boys… We were enjoying a relaxing end to a great day... and WHAM!  No lights, no DVD, no nothing!!  It was black wasn’t it?  Pitch black.  We did what most of you probably did; we lit a bunch of candles, brought out the lanterns and flashlights, and gathered around the table wondering how long this lack of power would last.  The funny thing about the whole situation is exactly that… we wondered how long the absence would remain.  We got out extra blankets to make sure everyone was warm.  We got some extra-deep sleep (no street lights or Christmas lights from outside to interfere).  We just settled into whatever routine would see us through.  We never entertained the idea that the outage would be permanent.  Never.  We didn’t know how long it would be, but we had every confidence that it would end soon, and order would be restored.  There was a sense of peace in that.  We need to view life like we viewed the outage last week.  Jesus came to this life and brought the best of hope and anticipation to mankind, and left.  How are we handling the meantime?  I pray that we have every confidence that His return will bring the best of light and power to His people, and live in such a way that it could be at any given moment.  When the power came back on we were happy, but we expected it, and were ready for it.  Would you be ready if Jesus came back before you put this paper down?  Have you given your life over to Him and His plans for you?  Are you expecting Him with excitement and anticipation?  If not, my prayer for you is that you will seek out someone who will help you walk through the written Word of God in such a way as to help you find that sense of joy and anticipation.  Paul writes about it in Romans, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.” (Romans 8:18-19)  The blackout will end.  Are you ready?
