 | Hiding in “the” crowd? Ask most Christians: “Who is Jesus?” And we’ll offer a number of predictable responses. “Jesus is the son of God.” “Jesus is the Lord.” “Jesus is the Way, the truth, and the life.” “Jesus is the light of the world,” “the lamb of God”….All correct… all scriptural, all significant. But, unfortunately, our response to this question is too often repeated mindlessly, by rote. The fact is, when we truly and humbly acknowledge Jesus as the rightful owner of our life, our most natural response will likely be “Jesus is my Lord”… “my Lord”…not “the Lord”…make it personal. Jesus does. When, publicly, you refer to Jesus as “my Lord” you experience the joy of acknowledging his name before men. And he will acknowledge your name before the angels of God. (Luke 12:8) You may find that it takes a little “pride swallowing” to get that “my” in there, where it’s supposed to be …and you’ll understand why “the Lord” is so much easier to say……it helps you hide in “the” crowd.
