| Lessons at the Post Office Of all the errands I run for my household or job, I find going to the Post Office by far the most enjoyable. At first, it would seem ridiculous to think so, because I abhor long lines, long waits, and detailed descriptions of package contents. The reason for it to be the most enjoyable is really quite simple. One of the Post Office workers has the most positive personality I’ve ever encountered. “Have a great day, fantastic customer!! How can I help you, good sir? Will that be all for you today, good Madam?” It borders on impossible to even be in the waiting line and not be lifted up by CJ’s over-powering positivity! He simply exudes what is instructed in the Good Book by the apostle Paul, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29 NIV) and also, “…I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me. (Philippians 2:17-18 NLT) Not hard to believe, is it? Most of you reading this will know exactly “who” and “what” I mean, because you’ve witnessed it firsthand. The sad thing about it is, why are not many more of us like that? Why can’t we choose on a regular basis to have our words be overwhelmingly positive and encouraging? We all could benefit from taking the time to increase this trait, attracting people to our Lord through choosing an attractive and positive outlook on life. Need an example? Pen an encouraging letter to a friend, and then pop by to see CJ, you’ll smile, I guarantee… |
